All 8 mm film is 3/8" wide and has sprocket holes on one side only. The center hole in an 8 mm  reel is about 1/4", Super-8 reels have a larger center hole and the sprocket holes are smaller. Sound film has a narrow brown sound track along one or both sides.

Tip! To find out how much film there is on  partial reels, look at the spokes. Sometimes you will see numbers engraved that tell you how many feet there are.

The price/ft. is the same for 8mm and Super8 film, but the playing time varies.
